Calm & Focus: Clicker Foundations – New Dog Training Class in Belbroughton

I’m really excited to be launching my first Mojo Method group training class in Belbroughton this coming April!

This 6-week Calm & Focus Clicker Foundations course is designed to help dogs and their owners build a stronger connection while learning practical skills that make everyday life easier.

Training isn’t just about teaching commands — it’s about helping your dog understand you, stay calm in exciting environments, and enjoy learning with you.

This course focuses on exactly that.

Who the course is for:

This class is suitable for dogs of any age, whether you have a young dog who is still learning the basics or an older dog who needs help with focus and engagement.

It’s particularly helpful for:

• owners who want a stronger connection with their dog
• dogs who pull on the lead
• dogs who get easily distracted outdoors
• dogs who struggle to settle or stay calm

The goal of the course is to help you build a dog who is engaged, responsive and relaxed, even when the world around them is exciting.

What we’ll cover

Over the 6 weeks we’ll work on a range of foundation skills that help dogs succeed in everyday situations.

Clicker training basics

We’ll start by going over the basics of clicker training, so both you and your dog understand how the learning process works.

The clicker acts as a clear marker that tells your dog the exact moment they’ve done the right thing. Once dogs understand this system, they often become very engaged and enthusiastic learners.

This foundation makes the rest of the training much clearer and easier for your dog to understand.

Recall foundations

Teaching your dog to come back reliably is one of the most important skills they can learn.

We’ll focus on building a strong, positive recall so your dog learns that returning to you is always rewarding and worthwhile.

Loose lead walking

Many dogs pull simply because they’re excited about the environment around them.

In this course we’ll work on helping your dog learn how to walk calmly beside you, making walks more relaxed and enjoyable for both of you.

Impulse control

Impulse control is the ability for dogs to pause and think rather than reacting immediately.

We’ll teach exercises that help dogs develop patience and calm behaviour, which can make a huge difference in daily life.

Focus around distractions

The world is full of exciting smells, sounds and movement.

Your dog doesn’t need to ignore everything around them, but they do need to learn how to check back in with you and stay connected, even when distractions are present.

Settle and relaxation

Not every dog naturally knows how to relax.

We’ll work on teaching dogs how to switch off and settle calmly, helping them feel more relaxed both at home and out and about.

Why I use clicker training

This course uses clicker training, a reward-based method that helps dogs learn quickly and clearly.

The clicker acts as a precise marker, telling your dog the exact moment they have done the right thing.

This approach has several benefits:

• it provides clear communication between you and your dog
• dogs often learn faster and with more enthusiasm
• it is positive and reward-based
• it helps build confidence and engagement

Many owners are surprised by how quickly their dog starts offering behaviours once they understand the learning process.
