Meet Your Trainer: From Dog Photographer to Dog Trainer!

After years behind the camera photographing dogs, I realised my favourite part of every session wasn’t the photos themselves… it was the connection between people and their dogs. The Mojo Method grew from that realisation — that with calm, understanding communication, any dog and owner can learn to thrive together.

A Journey from Behind the Camera to Behind the Leash

For over five years, I worked as a professional photographer, specialising in theatre, branding, and event photography. But some of my most rewarding moments came when I started photographing dogs — capturing their personalities, quirks, and emotions in a single frame.

Through the lens, I began to see just how expressive and sensitive dogs are. I learned to notice the tiny details — the flick of an ear, the softening of eyes, the slight shift of weight — all subtle signs of what a dog is thinking or feeling. Those moments taught me to read dogs deeply, to slow down and listen to what they were telling me.

That skill — understanding a dog’s emotional world — became the bridge that eventually led me from photography into dog training.

I decided to say goodbye to photography, and began studying more about dog behaviour and training, eventually qualifying as a certified dog trainer with the Dog Training College. Whilst I was studying, I set myself up in business as a local dog walker too, and I now run both training and walking side by side!

The Birth of The Mojo Method

The Mojo Method was born from a simple belief: once owners truly understand how dogs think and learn, everything changes.

My goal is to help people become better communicators for their dogs — to see training not as a list of commands, but as a shared language. When you learn to “speak dog,” your relationship becomes easier, calmer, and far more rewarding.

The Mojo Method is about helping both ends of the lead feel confident, connected, and understood. Whether you’re welcoming a new puppy or working with an adult dog who needs a reset, the focus is always the same — creating connection over correction.

My Approach: Calm, Connection, and Clarity

Every dog is different, and so is every owner. That’s why my approach focuses on Calm, Connection, and Clarity — three pillars that guide every session.

  • Calm: Dogs learn best when they feel safe and relaxed. I focus on creating peaceful environments where both you and your dog can learn without pressure or confusion.

  • Connection: Training should strengthen your bond, not strain it. My methods are designed to build trust and mutual understanding — the foundation of every great partnership. They should also be fun!

  • Clarity: Communication is everything. Using clear, consistent signals, I help you and your dog understand each other with ease and confidence.

This approach transforms training from a task into teamwork — one small step at a time.

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

I’m a certified dog trainer with the Dog Training College, and I also hold a diploma in Canine Communication. I had the privilege of shadowing experienced trainers during my studies, learning from real-world experience.

Before launching The Mojo Method, I spent years building a business in professional dog photography. That experience taught me the foundations of how to connect, communicate, and read a dogs body language.

Now, I combine both worlds: the creative eye of a photographer and the empathetic understanding of a dog trainer.

Every dog has their own story, and so does every owner. My role is simply to help you both write the next chapter — one built on understanding, communication, and calm confidence.
