5 Hydrating Foods Your Dog Will Love This Summer ☀️🐶

When the weather warms up, keeping our dogs properly hydrated becomes even more important. Fresh water should always be available, but did you know there are also plenty of dog-friendly foods with a naturally high water content?

They can make brilliant refreshing treats on warmer days — and if your dog is anything like mine, the CRUNCH is half the fun. 😂

Here are five simple options to try:

🍉 Watermelon

Watermelon has a very high water content, making it a lovely refreshing treat for hot days.

You can even pop small pieces in the fridge for an extra-cool treat!

*Serve the flesh in small bite-sized pieces and always remove the rind and seeds before giving it to your dog.

🍓 Strawberries

Strawberries are another juicy option and contain plenty of water alongside fibre and nutrients.

*Remove the stalk, wash them and cut them into appropriately sized pieces — particularly for smaller dogs.

🥒 Cucumber

If your dog loves crunchy treats, cucumber is a great one to try. It's made up largely of water and can be served raw in small slices or chunks.

It's also really easy to keep some chopped cucumber in the fridge ready for warmer days.

🌱 Celery

Another satisfying CRUNCH!

Celery has a high water content and can make a refreshing occasional snack. Wash it thoroughly and chop it into small, manageable pieces before offering it to your dog.

🍈 Melon

Melon is sweet, juicy and water-rich, making small pieces a lovely summer treat for many dogs.

*Remove the rind and seeds and stick to small portions, as melon naturally contains sugar.

These foods are treats, not a replacement for fresh drinking water, and moderation is important.

Introduce anything your dog hasn't eaten before gradually, serve everything plain, and make sure seeds, stones, rinds and any other unsuitable parts are removed.
